I participated in the 2016 Global Game Jam over the weekend! One of the event sponsors, Tobii, manufacturers a device called the EyeX. The Tobii EyeX is a small device that can detect where you are looking at on a screen. Similar to a Nintendo Wii sensor, it sits below the monitor and connects to your computer using a cable. Using Tobii’s EyeX API, we implemented a couple of cool game mechanics into our Unity3D game. Menu options can be picked by staring at them for a moment, and enemies can be slowed down when you look at them. We added a spotlight, so the player could have a visual representation of where they were looking on screen. Met some awesomely talented people and had a blast!
